Alfred Nobel got queasy about creating dynamite. Robert Propst invented nothing so destructive. Yet before he died in 2000, he lamented his unwitting contribution to what he called &quot;monolithic insanity.&quot;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Oh, come now. Without nuclear weapons, we wouldn&#8217;t have had <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nuclear_weapons_in_popular_culture\">Miss Atomic Bomb<\/a>. Without dynamite, how would we remember <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dynomitejj.com\/front.html\">Jimmie Walker<\/a>? And, no cubicles, no <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Office_Space\">Office Space<\/a>. Important contributions, all.<\/p>\n<p>Abstract expressionism, on the other hand, deserves another look.
